GENERAL SUMMARY
The Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs all types of diagnostic x-ray procedures to include: • Radiography • Fluoroscopy • Portable diagnostic • Portable fluoroscopy • Practices radiation safety for patients, staff, and self.
Uses sterile technique as required.
Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
Competently operates all diagnostic x-ray equipment and support systems to include: • HIS (Hospital Information System) • RIS (Radiology Information System) • Scheduling System • PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) • Offsite Radiologist Services
Utilizes department computer systems and PACS to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
Properly cares for and images patients of all ages, maintains patient confidentiality.
Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care, demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and proper communication with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment as necessary, notifies coordinator of equipment problems, and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
Keeps area properly supplied.
Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of a school of Radiologic Technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required.
Valid State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS
Certifications:
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
