The Oncology Service (TOS) is a multi-facility small animal oncology practice delivering advanced veterinary cancer care across three hospital locations. The Oncology Service Richmond is growing and reopening our Radiation Oncology department. We are hiring a skilled Veterinary Assistant to help support the next phase of specialty cancer care in Richmond, Virginia.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting with the efficiency of the oncologist by anticipating doctor’s needs and providing exceptional and compassionate patient care, acquiring accurate patient histories, recordkeeping and invoicing, and client communication and education as directed by the veterinarian.
Low-stress handling techniques and restraint of patients during physical exams and diagnostic sample collection.
Obtaining radiographs, assisting with proper radiation patient positioning during treatments, assisting with patients undergoing general anesthesia during radiation treatments and CT scans.
Performing CT scans and delivery of treatment plans on the linear accelerator – training provided.
Assisting with the administration of chemotherapy alongside a licensed veterinary technician, including the use of low-stress handling techniques and restraint of patients.
Dispensing medications, including the safe and proper handling of chemotherapy drugs.
Utilizing Idexx in-house laboratory equipment.
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years’ veterinary assistant experience required
Radiation therapists are encouraged to apply
Fear Free Certification preferred, but not required

Salary range for this position is $18-$22/hour. Salary commensurate with experience level.
