ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • The technician must work proficiently to deliver on or ahead of schedule.
  • Assist the engineering team with device design and development including: rapidly prototyping designs, troubleshooting failures, proposing and evaluating design and process improvements
  • Assemble Class II and III prototype components, subassemblies and assemblies
  • Works from product specifications and written/verbal instructions.
  • Develop and execute tests for new and improved design concepts processes, procedures, and test methods.
  • Record build data in laboratory notebooks
  • Develop, design and implement efficient and useful fixtures and tooling for manufacturing and process improvements of new or modified products / processes
  • Review, develop, and improve manufacturing instructions
  • Maintain detailed documentation through all phases of development, testing and analysis
  • May assist in the transfer of technology and/or contribute in cross-functional discussions regarding device performance

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AA Degree or equivalent work experience in related discipline and 3 years of related experience in the medical device industry
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles and ability to read and comprehend work instructions, schematics and design documentation
  • Experience with welding, braiding, coiling, heat shaping, hot air bonding, swaging and fusing is preferred
  • Critical thinking, troubleshooting and problem solving ability
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft desktop environment: Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, and Minitab is a plus
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic anatomy and product use are not required but encouraged

Occasionally needs to walk, climb (stairs/ladders) exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Visual Acuity - The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Working Conditions - The performance of this position will routinely require exposure to the manufacturing areas and development labs, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as, gloves, frocks, hair and beard covers, face protection, foot protection, safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.

TRAVEL:

This position does not require travel.
