Job Overview
The Ruggedized Fiber Optic (RFO) hiring for R&D/PRODUCT DVL TECHNICIAN III (6-3-T). To supply the quick turn capabilities needed for prototypes and customer samples. To supply tooling designs in support of new products and processes to meet customer ramp up schedules. In summary, to create cost effective solutions for first NPI product builds and prepare those products for transfer to production.
This opening is for an experienced fiber optic technician. This person will be a key member of simultaneous R&D engineering teams and will be responsible for optical connector assembly, termination of various configurations of fiber optic cable assemblies, and testing of these cable assemblies. This individual will also assist in process development and resolution of problems encountered in the process of bringing new optical products from concept to market. Other duties will include operation of fiber router & completion of over-molding process. The position will also provide suggestions for the simplification of new products to reduce costs and increase overall manufacturing efficiency. The individual must also be able to work as a team member with remote sites and outside vendors. The individual is to be a self-starter and have the ability to work well under schedule pressures and be able to balance workload as priorities change. Candidates need to have a strong work ethic with a desire to continually learn & with a concentrated focus on serving the Customer
Job Requirements
Support prototype product builds, test product builds, pre-release NPI builds.
Perform IL & RL testing of various configurations of cable assemblies.
Perform EFG & IPC (workmanship) checks on both single & multi-fiber termini.
Mechanical Aptitude to safely & efficiently operate equipment (E-Stop/Soft Stop, identifying issues,
clearing faults and acknowledging machines states.
Assist in the estimation process step durations.
Assist in setting-up new manufacturing processes.
Suggest process changes to improve overall manufacturing efficiencies.
Communication within a team atmosphere to ensure clarity of purpose & Customer satisfaction.
Soldering & PCBA Assembly skills for the following: Wire Harnesses, Connectors, Passive
Components (Resistors, Capacitors, etc.), IC (Integrated Circuits).
DMM (Digital Multi Meter), Variable Power Supplies, Variable Attenuators, Optical & RF Switch.
