R&D Expert Electrical Engineer Full TimeHardware Design - Budd Lake, NJ or Loveland, COKeysight Technologies, the world's largest test and measurement equipment manufacturer, has an outstanding research and development position available for an experienced electrical engineer seeking work in hardware design for power electronics.ResponsibilitiesThis position will be located in Mount Olive, NJ or Loveland, CO at Keysight's Electronic Industrial Solutions Group. The Budd Lake and Loveland sites are primarily devoted to the design, manufacture, and marketing of Keysight's power supply solutions. These products range from multi‑kilowatt switching supplies, AC sources, 30 kW regenerative power solutions, solar array simulators, to AC grid emulators up to 1 MW.The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and skill set in power electronics, switching‑converter design, analog design, control systems, digital signal processing, and embedded programming. HDL skills would be a plus.In this position, you will work on hardware‑based designs for new Keysight programmable power supplies. You will regularly use some of the most advanced measurement and simulation tools available while collaborating with other highly skilled and accomplished staff members.QualificationsBS/MS in Electrical EngineeringAbility to work daily on site providing technical leadership on power‑electronics subsystems and mentor new college graduates as neededStrong team player that can work alongside multiple design disciplines in a collaborative and efficient manner to hit project milestones on‑time and on‑budgetSkilled in project scoping and working with the project manager to estimate work breakdown structures and time estimatesAbility to both leverage existing solutions and develop from scratch design concepts based on project needsPreferred 5+ years of experience in hardware design, particularly involving power supplies and electronic measurement devicesDirect design experience with power electronics and switching‑converter designs from 500 W to 50 kW particularly as it relates to power supplies and regenerative grid technologiesAbility to generate cost‑effective and dense designs that meet safety, EMC, and internal quality metricsDirect experience with board layout as it relates to switching‑converter designsMust have strong analog design skills including experience in both time and frequency domain measurementsMust be able to demonstrate a strong skill set in continuous and discrete signals and systemsExperience with both analog and digital control theory and design methods is requiredExperience with digital signal processing (DSP) ideally with HDL skills is a major plusAbility to model systems in Matlab and circuit simulator tools like Saber, SPICE or PLECsim is requiredDesirable SkillsExperience coding, simulating, testing, and debugging HDL designsStrong Python programming skills.
