We are seeking an R&D Engineer for a contract role in Johnston, IA, focusing on integrating PLC systems with robotics. The role involves full project ownership, from design to deployment, supporting complex industrial automation systems.
Key responsibilities include developing .NET applications interfacing with hardware, programming PLCs with Structured Text (IEC 61131-3), configuring and troubleshooting robot controllers, and implementing industrial protocols like MQTT, MODBUS, and EtherCAT. The engineer will operate independently, managing their backlog in a less structured environment.
Requirements include at least 5 years of hands-on experience with industrial .NET C# and PLC programming, and direct experience with manufacturing systems. Preferred skills include robotics programming (Epson robots), familiarity with Python, C++, or C, and experience with Beckhoff platforms.
This onsite role is through December with potential extension or full-time conversion, requiring an independent work style and final onsite interview. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
