Quality Technician

Overview
Our client, a global automotive electronics manufacturer, is seeking a Quality Technician to support quality assurance activities in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for inspecting incoming, in-process, and finished products, supporting root cause investigations, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with automotive quality standards including IATF 16949 and ISO 9001

The ideal candidate has experience in automotive manufacturing, quality inspections, Layered Process Audits (LPAs), AIAG Core Tools, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections of incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and finished products to ensure compliance with customer and engineering specifications
  • Utilize precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other inspection tools.
  • Document inspection results, maintain quality records, and prepare reports for engineering and management.
  • Issue and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Quality Alerts, and defective components through resolution.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions using quality tools and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Conduct Layered Process Audits (LPAs), product audits, ESD audits, and process compliance audits.
  • Support Quality Management System (QMS) requirements in accordance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Verify manufacturing processes follow work instructions, control plans, operating procedures, FMEAs, and quality documentation.
  • Support calibration and maintenance of inspection and testing equipme
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Generate and maintain quality documentation including work instructions, control charts, inspection reports, quality alerts, and operating procedures.
  • Perform additional quality-related duties as assigned by Quality leadership

Qualifications (Required)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related technical field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Quality Technician or Quality Inspector experience in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 2 years of Layered Process Audit (LPA) experience
  • Experience performing product inspections, process audits, and quality documentation
  • Working knowledge of AIAG Core Tools including FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Root Cause Analysis, and customer-specific requirements (CSR)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Experience using precision measuring and testing equipment
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)

Prefered
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or willingness to obtain certification
  • Experience with automotive electronics, PCB assemblies, electrical systems, or mechatronics
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
