Job Description Summary
The Rotor Assembly and Rotor Machining Technical Leader serves as the manufacturing technical authority for rotor machining and rotor assembly processes. This role provides strategic and tactical leadership to drive process capability, product quality, manufacturing excellence, and continuous improvement across the rotor value stream. The position is responsible for developing and implementing best-in-class manufacturing methods, leading complex technical problem solving, mentoring technical personnel, and collaborating across Operation, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing Teams to ensure safe, efficient, and capable manufacturing processes.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary manufacturing technical authority for rotor machining and rotor assembly processes.
- Partner with Engineering and Operations to establish, standardize, and continuously improve manufacturing methods, technical standards, and leverage best practices, across the rotor value stream.
- Lead strategic initiatives that improve manufacturing capability, capacity, and process robustness, using Lean Principles, statistical methods, and key manufacturing metrics (Cp, Cpk, FPY, Scrap, OEE) to prioritize improvements.
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on support to resolve complex manufacturing challenges, lead root cause investigations, and implement sustainable corrective and preventative actions.
- Optimize manufacturing processes, tooling, in-process inspection methods, measurement systems, and manufacturing technologies to improve process capability and product quality.
- Mentor and develop ME’s, PQE’s, and Operations Teams in rotor manufacturing processes, GD&T, structured problem solving (4D, 5-Why, 8D), and manufacturing processes.
- Establish robust manufacturing documentation, standardized work, training programs, and knowledge-sharing processes to ensure long-term operations excellence.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to support technology and Lean Roadmaps for rotor machining, assembly, and inspection.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in Production Environment.
Desired Characteristics
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated expertise in rotor machining and complex rotor assembly manufacturing. Background in gas turbine manufacturing.
- Strong technical knowledge of CNC milling, turning, GD&T, precision measurement systems, and manufacturing process controls.
- Experience developing and implementing manufacturing process improvements, tooling, inspection technologies, and best practices.
- Proven ability to lead complex technical investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies (4D, 5-Why, 8D) and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive technical decisions without direct authority.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong understanding of mechanical assembly principles, alignment techniques, torque and tensioning methods, bolted joint integrity, and critical assembly processes.
- Experience mentoring engineers, quality professionals, and operations personnel.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $104,600.00 and $174,400.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
