Position Title: Quality Specialist
Position Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Specialist to join our Sunwarrior team. This brand-focused position plays a key role in supporting our Quality Team by ensuring safe and efficient operations. The Quality Specialist will be responsible for reviewing procedures, setting quality standards, and enhancing and maintaining quality processes. This position requires high attention to detail as well as excellent organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Raw Material Qualification
Raw ingredient technical information gathering and evaluation to support customer certifications or needs
Creation and maintenance of Finished product Specifications
Creation and maintenance of Raw Material Specifications
Works with PD, Supply Chain and customers on gathering finished product information and customer requirements to build accurate specifications
Ensure 3rd party customers' products are analytically tested timely for release as per finished product specifications
Assist management by issuing/creating certificates of analysis (CoA), certificates of conformance (CoC), and waivers for the timely release of finished goods
Organizes, reviews, files and maintains controlled documents
Generates products and ingredients statements as needed
Good documentation practices with post market surveillance of consumer complaints
Document Control: reviewing internal SOP's and providing revision control
Reviews root-cause analysis, product quality / adverse event investigations, and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvement opportunities.
Evaluates CAPAs when non-conformances are identified internally or at Contract manufacturing/packaging facilities.
Assists in the development of special projects and works in conjunction with distribution and other departments as needed.
Maintain quality systems and improve programs to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements for dietary supplements and nutritional products (cGMP, GDP, 21 CFR 111, HACCP, FSMA, SQF, NSF, GFCO, TGA, etc)
Additional duties as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in food science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Nutrition, Exercise Science, or an applicable scientific discipline.
1 - 3 years' quality experience or more with nutritional supplements, dietary ingredients, food, or equivalent experience as it pertains to this role.
Knowledge and understanding of 21 CFR Part 111 (cGMP in Manufacturing, Packaging, Labeling, or Holding Operations for Dietary Supplements) and/or 21 CFR Part 117 (cGMP in Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food)
Experience in a Quality environment strongly preferred
Accurate data entry skills and Lab sample submissions
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
Experience with Office (Word/Excel)
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to interact efficiently with a multidisciplinary team.
Ability to identify deficiencies and lead continuous improvement initiatives in cooperation with the other members of the quality team.
Proficient in conducting quality testing and inspections.
High level of attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
