Location Mansfield OHCleveland-Cliffs is seeking a Quality Specialist to support the daily quality assurance activities for stainless steel hot band production on site at our Mansfield Ohio facility. This role is responsible for performing product disposition decisions under established guidelines reviewing process and inspection data and ensuring compliance with customer order requirements. In addition this position provides support to the LMF Chemistry Lab by assisting with routine maintenance calibration checks and supply management. As a result of this role the Quality Specialist will develop technical knowledge of product quality manufacturing processes and laboratory operations in a steelmaking environment.Summary of ResponsibilitiesFollow all plant and department safety procedures including proper Personal Protection Equipment useAdhere to established quality systems procedures and documentation requirementsApply standard quality criteria to determine product acceptability and perform daily disposition of stainless steel hot bands using defined procedures specifications and quality standards and document accordinglyReview process holds and assist in determining appropriate disposition actionsAnalyze automated surface inspection system maps to identify potential defects and escalate concerns to appropriate personnelAssist the Lab Supervisor with routine lab operations and daily tasks including timely and accurate reporting of results in accordance with proceduresHelp maintain lab equipment including basic upkeep and organization monitor inventory and assist with ordering lab suppliesSupport audit readiness through accurate recordkeepingParticipation in lab on call rotation including after-hours support as neededOther duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsAssociate of Science degree or equivalent manufacturing experience in Metallurgy Materials and Engineering TechnologyBasic computer skills and ability to learn data systemsStrong attention to detail and willingness to learnWillingness to learn and apply technical knowledgeBasic analytical and problem-solving skillsCommunication and teamworkAbility to follow procedures and work within defined guidelinesPreferred QualificationsBachelors Degree in Engineering fieldExperience in manufacturing metallurgy or quality processesFamiliarity with inspection systems or production laboratory environmentsBasic understanding of steel processing or quality conceptsRelocation assistance is not provided for this position.Cleveland-Cliffs is a leading North America-based steel producer with focus on value-added sheet products particularly for the automotive industry.
