Our companies' Wichita operation designs, builds and distributes around one million pieces of residential heating and cooling equipment every year.

The primary manufacturing campus sits on 63 acres with a total of 1.3 million square feet. It has also translated into large employment growth in Wichita, where its workforce is around 1,600 employees which is up nearly 22 percent year over year. The Wichita manufacturing facility is the largest non-aircraft manufacturing plant in Wichita.

What You Will Do

As the Quality Manager at our Wichita, Kansas plant, you will have a critical influence on the success of New Product Introduction Quality. You will have the voice to share your creative ideas as you take your seat at the table with the other top local leaders.

How You Will Do It

  • Formulate and maintain quality objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
  • Interpret quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.
  • Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Plan and oversee the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
  • Perform quality-engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Apply statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Decide whether to accept a product or continue business with a vendor based on a review by the quality assurance engineer.
  • Review all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
  • Keep management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
  • Prepare and present technical and program information to the management team.
  • Direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.
  • Play an active role on quality management teams within organization.
  • Design and implement quality training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
  • Investigate and adjust customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Effective root cause and corrective action skills including 8D, 5 phase, A3, etc.
  • Develop and maintains APQP documentation (Control Plans and PFMEA's).

What We Look For

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering) or a technical discipline.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of Quality Management experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of management experience leading a Quality Team.
  • Extensive knowledge of Quality Management Systems processes and procedures.
  • Prior experience with New Product Introduction.
  • Working knowledge of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) techniques.
  • Demonstrated strengths of resiliency, process driven, process oriented as well as success implementing Quality standards and best practices.

Preferred:

  • Previous completion of Problem-Solving training (Kepner-Tregoe, 8D or Shainin). In lieu of completion of formal training, applicants must have practiced it and can validate during interview process.
