Quality Manager

Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Travel: Up to 20%

TalentBridge is partnering with a manufacturing company in the Grand Rapids area to identify a Quality Manager to lead the Quality function across manufacturing and distribution operations. This role is responsible for improving product quality, reducing internal and customer-facing defects, maintaining quality systems, and leading a team focused on continuous improvement.

The Quality Manager will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Quality Department, collaborate with Operations and Engineering, and ensure compliance with established quality standards and ISO 9001 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the Quality Department across manufacturing and distribution.
  • Supervise and develop a team of Quality Engineers, Quality Technicians, and Quality leadership personnel.
  • Partner with Operations to investigate quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead customer complaint investigations and support customer corrective action requests.
  • Drive ISO 9001 compliance through internal audits and follow-up activities.
  • Monitor and report quality metrics, including scrap, rework, Parts Per Million (PPM), and cost of quality.
  • Develop and maintain quality procedures, verification methods, inspection processes, and sampling plans.
  • Participate in new product development activities, including first article inspections and product validation.
  • Maintain quality documentation and communicate quality performance to leadership.
  • Support departmental budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning.
  • Coach and mentor employees on quality systems, problem-solving methodologies, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, and other internal teams to improve quality processes.
  • Travel occasionally to support additional facilities, suppliers, or business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing Quality environment.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with quality systems, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and Process Control.
  • Experience leading structured problem-solving activities using methodologies such as 5 Whys, 8D, or A3.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
