Job Description

The Quality Lab Technician on 2nd shift supports quality control activities by processing samples, performing laboratory tests, and maintaining equipment and supplies in a state-of-the-art cosmetic manufacturing facility. This role ensures that raw materials and bulk products meet established quality standards by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). The technician works closely with laboratory and production teams to keep accurate records, uphold safety and housekeeping standards, and contribute to a growing organization.

Responsibilities

• Assist in sample processing in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality control requirements.
• Issue and apply release stickers on approved raw materials and bulk products to indicate quality status.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment, including instruments such as pH meters and viscometers, to ensure accurate test results.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and document activities as required.
• Maintain inventory and ensure proper levels of laboratory and department supplies.
• Order, unpack, log, and store laboratory supplies in an organized and traceable manner.
• Assist in completing laboratory paperwork, documenting information accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
• Log, label, and process specimens and associated paperwork for testing according to established procedures.
• Perform housekeeping and preventative maintenance of laboratory instruments to ensure reliable operation.
• Ensure the laboratory area remains neat, clean, and organized at all times.
• Maintain an ongoing awareness of cGMP, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), good housekeeping standards, and safety requirements in the laboratory.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support production and quality objectives.
• Follow verbal and written instructions accurately to complete assigned tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support overall laboratory and production operations.

Essential Skills

• Ability to assist with sample processing in a quality control laboratory environment.
• Hands-on experience or familiarity with pH meters and viscometers.
• Working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to accurately complete laboratory documentation and maintain detailed records.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in testing and documentation.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask effectively, and manage time well in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
• Ability to work cooperatively with team members and supervisors.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions.
• High school diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• BA or BS degree in Biological Science, Chemistry, or a combination of education and related experience.
• Experience working in a laboratory environment is preferred.
• Experience in the cosmetology or cosmetic manufacturing industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of quality control principles and practices.
• Comfort working with viscosity measurements and related testing.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support multiple departments as needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in a laboratory and production environment within a state-of-the-art cosmetic manufacturing facility that utilizes modern, state-of-the-art equipment. The position is scheduled on 2nd shift, with a typical shift starting at 12:00 p.m., and flexibility to work other shifts and Saturdays is desired to support production needs. The work involves regular interaction with laboratory instruments, sample handling, and movement between lab and production areas while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moorpark, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.
