About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to support inspection and quality activities for aerospace components and assemblies. This role is responsible for performing receiving, in-process, final, and First Article Inspections (FAIs), ensuring products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. The ideal candidate will have aerospace inspection experience, strong blueprint reading skills, and a solid understanding of AS9102 and quality documentation requirements.

Essential Duties

  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAIs) and prepare inspection reports in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Conduct receiving, in-process, and final inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Create ballooned drawings and inspection documentation.
  • Review and document nonconforming materials and inspection findings.
  • Verify material certifications, process certifications, and supplier documentation against purchase order and specification requirements.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, models, and technical specifications.
  • Perform dimensional and mechanical inspections on machined, formed, cast, forged, and assembled aerospace components.
  • Review customer and supplier purchase order requirements for quality compliance.
  • Inspect aerospace products with special processes including anodizing, chem film, passivation, heat treating, dry film lubrication, penetrant testing, and radiography.
  • Utilize manufacturing documentation such as routers, travelers, work orders, bills of material, and receiving records.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Follow company quality procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Support additional quality and inspection activities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Quality Inspection experience within the aerospace or aviation industry.
  • Working knowledge of AS9102 and preparation of component detail and top assembly FAIs.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, technical data, customer specifications, and material specifications.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, heat treating, and NDT processes.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring instruments including:
    • Calipers
    • Micrometers
    • Dial Indicators
    • Height Gages
    • Depth Gages
    • Optical Comparators
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and visual acuity examination.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within AS9100 or other aerospace quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems.
  • Experience with laser trackers, Romer Arms, and advanced inspection equipment.
  • Knowledge of CMM inspection reports and dimensional data.
  • Certified Inspector credentials such as DQR, DSQR, ASQ, or FAA certifications.
  • Experience submitting FAIs through customer portals and coordinating with customer or government source inspectors.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing tools including 5S, 5 Whys, and A3 problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
