Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including power generation and conversion systems, magnetics, and sensors for extreme environments. Located in Milwaukie, OR (in the Greater Portland Area), this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select aircraft and ground vehicle markets, spanning business jet, narrow body, wide body, and fighter jet platforms as well as military ground vehicles. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon, among others.

Quality Inspector I (FAA Safety Sensitive)

Under supervision, performs required measurements and data collection of all purchased and final Materials requiring inspection. Communicates nonconforming results to OECO Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance. Assists with First Article inspections, assists with Customer Source Inspection, and when applicable, will be certified as Designated Quality Representative for applicable customers. Additional FAA screening may be required. If hired into the position Technician will be performing, ready to perform, or eligible to perform safety-sensitive work and therefore will be part of the OECO LLC Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. The Program includes random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident testing.

Equipment:

Hand measuring tools - micrometers, calipers, gauges (height/thread/depth/pin), rulers, optical comparator, surface plate with related accessories including V-block, angles, parallels, squares, clamps, etc.; weights and scales; microscope, various special inspection tools and fixtures, coordinate measuring machine, profilometer

Test equipment - curve tracer, video bridge and multimeters

Office equipment - calculator, copy machine, computer terminals, printers, scanners, fax machines

Set up and read-out of measuring tools and equipment listed above.

Duties:

  • Confirms information on accompanying packing sheets/certs corresponds with purchase order and other requirements.
  • Set up and perform complex measurements (electrical and mechanical) to verify that materials meet all parameters as called out by the latest inspection characteristics.
  • Inspect parts for conformance with detail drawings, assembly drawings, military standards and general standards of workmanship.
  • Performs visual inspections of soldered connections, of machined, coated, and plated surfaces, and other procured parts for nicks, scratches, or other general damage.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and purchasing requirements.
  • Segregate and report non-conforming material using a Quality Notification (QN) process.
  • Provide OECO Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance with measurement results and data to aid in disposition of discrepant material.
  • Maintain accurate files, records and logs.
  • Supports and participates in internal and customer audits.

A minimum one year of inspection experience preferred, 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Must have knowledge of assembly drawings, parts lists, revisions, workmanship standards, standard inspection procedures, work instructions, and wiring diagrams.

Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds over 10 times per day.

Requires a High School diploma or equivalent. A Certified Quality Technician (CRT) certificate or other certificates from a recognized organization is a plus. Strong math skills required. Blue print reading and GD&T classes recommended.

This position requires an annual visual acuity test.
