POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Quality Assurance manager, the Quality Improvement Technician promotes improvement in patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes by analyzing and managing data, constructing reports, and other population health tasks. The QI Technician will assist with identifying care gaps in clinical measures, including but not limited to Government Performance Reporting Act (GPRA) measures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The list that follows is not intended as a comprehensive list, but rather to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) will be required to perform a variety of duties listed, including but not limited to:
- Assist in implementing performance and quality improvement initiatives by providing meaningful reports using basic data visualization.
- Assist in collecting and analyzing data to identify areas in need of improvement throughout the Agency.
- Produce and provide reports to the Indian Health Services (IHS) as needed for proof of meeting GPRA measures, along with other necessary communication to external agencies.
- Create queries using various programs to identify gaps in care and opportunities for quality improvement.
- Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in identifying and evaluating opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to help ensure high quality, consistent, patient-centered care.
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to patient grievances, complaints, compliments, and suggestions, as well as incident reports, in a timely and professional manner.
- Prepare and distribute meeting minutes and other documentation in a timely manner.
- Assist with recurring clerical and administrative tasks, such as letters, e-mails etc.
- Participates in educational opportunities related to Quality Improvement and other related topics as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required for an employee to successfully perform their duties.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent—Associate’s Degree strongly preferred.
- Two (2) years’ experience in the Healthcare industry required; FQHC or Tribal Health setting preferred.
- Exhibit empathy and customer service to diffuse and manage conflict within the team and with patients or their representatives.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Effectively communicate verbally and written correspondence, including the ability to speak publicly and facilitate group meetings
- Demonstrates a spirit of teamwork and maintains open and effective working relations inter-departmentally and with outside agencies as needed.
- Ability to think critically and engage in solution-based problem-solving actions, considering all relevant details
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, prioritizes work assignments to meet goals.
- Computer skills and experience with electronic file or health records systems; proficient in MS Office Suite programs
- Must have reliable transportation, willing to travel for meetings and training.
