Quality Engineering Lab Manager, Semi

Teslas Semi team is looking for an experienced Quality Engineering Lab Manager. This is a dynamic position where you work in partnership with quality engineering and production to assure products and processes to be built right first time and continuously improve them to meet Customer expectations and profitability goals.

The Quality Engineering Lab Manager provides hands-on support leadership and direction to their direct reports and takes pride in their hands-on and analytical capabilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a track record of significant achievements, tremendous drive, and willingness to roll up their sleeves.

Responsibilities:

• Lead supervisors and Technicians to support Semi Lab operations
• Manage all laboratories and its assets to ensure 24x7 support with trusted test results
• Manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) requests for labs and quality assurance equipment used in production and incoming inspection

Key Responsibilities:

• Anticipate, comprehend, and implement laboratory operational requirements to support analysis for incoming quality and production in a 24x7 manufacturing environment, including:
• Lab facilities and environmental monitoring and control
• Lab safety and adherence to any state, national, or international requirements
• Develop and Lead quality assurance team to support production lines, laboratories, and incoming material quality activities, supporting improvement initiatives across suppliers and manufacturing
• Lead a quality assurance team of labs and operations technicians and supervisors to support production 24x7, implementing consistent standard work and training
• Establish and meet clear quality metrics and objectives for quality assurance activities
• Develop standard work, training, performance metrics, and development plan for quality operations and Labs teams to ensure that all products meet specifications and quality issues are prevented or addressed immediately

Qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
• Six Sigma, CQE-ASQ, or equivalent certifications are preferred
• 5 years of experience in product development, quality system, or program quality
• 3 years of experience of Quality leadership in manufacturing and/or designing new products for high-volume operations
• Experience with battery cells and modules preferred
• Proven track record to build and lead a strong team in a 24x7 manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in team-building, leadership development, training, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Analysis, and Six Sigma tools and methodologies
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize highly dynamic production environment
