Quality Engineer

Position Description

The Quality Engineer will lead quality and validation efforts across hardware, firmware, and software, supporting the full product lifecycle-from new product development to ongoing product enhancements and field performance. This role partners closely with engineering, product management, and operations to embed quality into design, drive continuous improvement, and deliver high-performing IoT solutions to our customers.

Position Details

This is a full-time, salaried position based at our global headquarters in Omaha, NE and includes a highly competitive salary/benefits package. Travel requirements will be minimal (<15%), but there may be some travel to various office locations and conferences.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of product validation and quality assurance for hardware, firmware, and software in the IoT group.
  • Develop, review, and execute test plans, procedures, and scripts for both embedded systems and software applications.
  • Implement verification and validation activities (DVP&R, DFMEA, Root Cause Analysis) and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with development and product teams to ensure test coverage for requirements and product changes.
  • Build, maintain, and improve test infrastructure, tools, and equipment, including automation where appropriate.
  • Analyze test data, report results, recommend improvements, and facilitate issue resolution.
  • Document validation results, test procedures, and participate in knowledge sharing.
  • Mentor engineers in test, validation, and quality assurance practices.
  • Participate in reviews to help ensure quality is embedded in development processes.
  • Support released products through troubleshooting and quality improvement efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in hardware/firmware/software validation, testing, or quality engineering.
  • Experience developing and executing test plans for embedded hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and test automation for hardware and software.
  • Proficient with test case management and defect tracking tools (e.g., TestRail, Jira).
  • Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and signal generators; and software QA tools (e.g., Selenium).
  • Understanding of IoT protocols, embedded systems, and regulatory/testing standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team best practices.
