Quality Engineer

Responsible for creating, documenting, and developing all APQP documents relating to new product launches and training the operational groups to secure a successful PPAP and launch of all new programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 2+ years of Quality Engineering experience in manufacturing environment
- Ability to write reports, effectively read and interpret blueprints, present information and respond to questions from colleagues, management representatives, suppliers, and customers.
- Ability to utilize computerized word processing and email systems in the day-to-day functions of the job.
- Requires analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Responsibilities:
- Participate, as a key member of the core launch team, from product kick off through the entire life cycle of the parts, responsible for all advance quality elements as defined in RASIC (Responsibility Assignment Matrix) as well as procedures.
- Assist in developing and training all operational groups of processes and requirements that relate to the launch of new programs.
- Understand, communicate and train all operational personnel on customer specific requirements.
- Lead / participate in corrective action audits and problem-solving teams to support Continuous Improvement to meet performance criteria once a new program is launched.
- Perform Process Capabilities and Measurement studies using statistical techniques as necessary to support new program launch and GD&T requirements.
- Develop, document, and provide for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes to support quality, cost, and customer expectations.
- Learn / understand customer specific Quality System requirements.
- Responsibility to act as liaison with external parties (customer & supplier) on matters relating to new program requirements.
- Develop gauges, gauge instructions with input from the customer. Train quality team members on the correct use of gauges.
- Coordinate the collection of all data required for customer PPAP approval in a timely manner. Prepare paperwork and obtain customer approval for the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) packages for assigned programs, including both new programs, tool transfers, and engineering changes.
- Obtain required customer signoffs for boundary samples, appearance approvals and fit / function approvals.
- Ensure adequate delineation of quality requirements to suppliers through the Purchasing department. Designate the quality characteristics to be measured and methods/processes for performing quality evaluations, including PPAP submissions, inspection, and test equipment.
- Read and interpret GD&T, direct dimensional layout and test timing as needed to meet PPAP submission date.
- Participate in any warranty analysis and investigation.
While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. Exposure to extreme heat or cold may be encountered. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Work will typically be from eight to ten hours per day, five days a week, with occasional travel by car or commercial aircraft, for external meetings with customers. Must be able to travel on short notice, both nationally and internationally.
