Position Summary
An experienced Quality Engineer is needed to oversee the Quality Assurance function, maintain the Quality Management System, and support ongoing compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards in alignment with organizational quality objectives. This role requires the ability to work across functional teams, lead initiatives outside a direct reporting structure when needed, and support continuous improvement efforts across the business. Expected travel is less than 5%.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
ISO 9001 Internal Auditor certification
Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams successfully
Strong leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills
Understanding of risk management principles and their practical application
Ability to certify to IPC standards
Preferred Qualifications
Experience performing quality inspections and audits in a defense or aerospace environment operating under ISO 9001; AS9100 experience preferred
Experience supporting organizations with design and development, manufacturing, maintenance, and repair processes
Strong skills in strategy, implementation, delegation, and follow-through
Technical knowledge of defense-related products, especially radar, avionics, and sensor systems
Familiarity with Export Control, ITAR, and FAR/DFARS requirements
Core Responsibilities
Partner with stakeholders, cross-functional teams, management, and assigned personnel to define scope, deliverables, resource needs, work plans, budgets, and timelines
Ensure Quality Management System processes and procedures are established, implemented, maintained, and continuously improved
Report Quality Management System performance and compliance status to senior leadership
Review and investigate QMS nonconformances and implement corrective actions
Support project teams in driving return on investment and operational efficiency through continuous improvement initiatives
Identify critical requirements from internal teams and external suppliers or vendors
Work with functional leaders to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects and areas of responsibility
Analyze, evaluate, and mitigate program risks while preparing reports for leadership and stakeholders
Apply change management principles and performance evaluation methods to support successful execution of quality initiatives
