QUALIFICATIONS

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or related field) or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment; experience in automotive or appliance industries is highly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems; familiarity with ANSI Z97.1, ASTM standards (for glass testing and performance), and other relevant glass/appliance standards.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) from ASQ or similar certification is a plus. 
    Proficiency in PPAP tools and processes, including Control Plans, FMEA, MSA, and capability studies.
  • Advanced skills in Minitab (or similar statistical software) for data analysis, SPC, and capability studies.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
  • Experience with Infor MRP system (or similar ERP) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work on-site and travel domestically up to 25%. 

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience in glass manufacturing or related processes such as tempering, coating, or fabrication.
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies for yield improvement.
  • Familiarity with customer quality requirements in the appliance industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough process audits across manufacturing lines to identify non-conformances, ensure adherence to procedures, and verify compliance with ISO 9001, ANSI Z97.1 (safety glazing materials), ASTM standards, and internal quality requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement and yield improvement projects using root cause analysis, Lean principles, and statistical tools to reduce defects, scrap, and process variability in glass production.
  • Manage PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions and approvals for new or revised products, including preparation of documentation, control plans, and capability studies.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly, performing root cause analysis, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and communicating updates to stakeholders.
  • Analyze production and quality data using statistical methods to monitor key metrics, identify trends, and recommend process optimizations.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to integrate quality requirements into daily operations and new product introductions.
  • Support supplier quality activities as needed, including audits and performance monitoring.
  • Participate in internal audits, management reviews, and preparation for external certification audits.
  • Travel domestically up to 25% to support quality initiatives at customer and supplier sites.
