QUALITY ENGINEER 3Position SummaryQuality Engineer 3 is responsible for technical support to the Quality Assurance Department and for providing technical assistance in identifying and resolving engineering and quality issues. The role requires an engineering or technical background sufficient to assist in the root‑cause analysis of problems and includes procedure development, drawing reviews, process development, and continuous improvement, as well as acting as a technical interface among Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program Management.ResponsibilitiesApply statistical techniques, including FMEA, reliability analysis, design of experiments, statistical decision making, and SPC and Six Sigma implementation.Use knowledge of military and commercial specifications for materials, mechanical and electrical products, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, special processing such as chemical processing, coatings, welding, heat treating, and non‑destructive testing.Implement and manage Zero Defect methodologies, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), and related principles for various customer programs.Participate in the AS9100/ISO 9001 quality management system requirements, including implementation, training, maintenance of department operating procedures, internal audit support, and preparation of input data for quality management reviews.Apply proficiency in engineering drawing standards such as ASME Y14.5M, ANSI/ASQC Z1.4, MIL-STD-100, ANSI/NCSL Z540-3, and FED-STD-H28.Support new business development with customer‑quality‑requirements compliance review, proposal writing support, and generation of quality assurance program plans.Interpret and implement contractual quality requirements for clients such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman, Honeywell, and Raytheon, including DCMA inspections via WAWF.Assist with customer requirement compliance, including the preparation and interface for surveys, readiness reviews, first‑article inspections (AS9102), audit analysis, corrective action definition, and use of Net‑Inspect, DISCUS, and Visual FAIR.Participate in or coordinate material review board (MRB) activities for corrective action issuance and closure.Apply root‑cause tools such as 8‑D, fault trees, cause‑and‑effect diagrams, and 5‑Whats to communicate data internally and externally.Conduct continuous‑improvement projects and initiatives.Assist Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering with drawing development, revisions, and process approval to reduce deviations from quality standards.Perform failure‑mode and effects analysis (FMEA), process FMEA, reliability analysis, experimental design, statistical decision making, and risk management.Support production and supplier evaluations, supplier development, surveys, source inspections, and performance reviews.Develop inspection methods, sampling plans, and interpret drawings for inspection personnel.Prepare inspection and test data for customer submittals and review test procedures for accuracy.Analyze test data and develop statistical techniques for process analysis.Collect and present quality performance metrics for monthly reports.Work with minimum supervision and maintain punctual attendance; additional hours may be required.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related technical field.Seven or more years of experience as a Quality Engineer or in a related position.ASQ Certified Quality Engineer a plus.Experience maintaining an AS9100/ISO 9001 Quality Management System.Background in engineering and manufacturing processes and knowledge of statistical methods and Six Sigma, including process capability studies and experimental design.Knowledge of military and commercial material specifications and special processing specifications, as well as IPC and J‑STD specifications.Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to present information to managers, clients, and the public and to communicate with coworkers.Competence in applying mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.Proficient in scientific calculators and knowledge of SPC.Aptitude for problem definition, data collection, fact establishment, and drawing valid conclusions.High attention to detail, ability to prioritize and complete tasks on time, and capacity to work independently and under pressure.Effective collaboration with all levels of management, shop personnel, and vendors; teamwork, professionalism, and respect for diversity.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.Experience using CMM, hardness tester, optical comparator, profilometer, sine plate, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gage blocks, precision measuring pins, gear wires, spline and thread gauges, scientific calculator, dial indicators, multimeter, and pallet jack.Physical requirements: ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force, occasionally 50 pounds;
