We are seeking a Quality Engineer with 3–5 years of hands-on experience in extrusion-based nonwoven production in for a large textiles manufacturer. This role focuses on ensuring consistent fiber and fabric quality across spunbond and/or meltblown processes, with a strong emphasis on textile performance characteristics. Experience in hygiene-grade nonwoven extrusion is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and control quality across extrusion, fiber spinning, web formation, and bonding processe.
Ensure consistency of textile parameters such as basis weight (GSM), fiber diameter, filament distribution, tensile strength, elongation, and fabric uniformity
Identify and resolve fabric defects such as streaks, holes, thin/thick areas, and contamination
Lead structured problem-solving using tools like 5 Whys, 8D, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor process variation and drive continuous improvement
Work closely with production teams to optimize extrusion parameters (temperature, throughput, quench air, draw ratios) for stable fiber formation
Develop and maintain control plans, inspection standards, and testing procedures for textile products
Conduct and interpret nonwoven fabric testing (tensile, tear, air permeability, thickness, uniformity)
Support product trials, new developments, and customer qualifications
Participate in audits and ensure compliance with quality standards such as International Organization for Standardization (e.g., ISO 9001)
Handle customer complaints related to fabric performance and drive corrective actions
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
3–5 years of experience in extrusion-based nonwoven textile manufacturing
Strong knowledge of spunbond and/or meltblown processes
Understanding of textile structure–property relationships in nonwoven fabrics
Experience with polymer processing, particularly polypropylene
Hands-on experience with quality tools (FMEA, SPC, root cause analysis)
Ability to interpret technical specifications and customer requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in hygiene nonwoven applications (diapers, wipes, medical textiles)
Familiarity with multilayer structures (SMS, SMMS)
Knowledge of textile testing standards (ASTM/ISO for nonwovens)
