Job Title: Quality Director
Job Description
The Quality Director leads the organization's overall quality strategy and execution, ensuring robust quality management across manufacturing operations and alignment with business objectives. This role oversees Quality Management Systems and Safety Management Systems, drives continuous process improvement, and serves as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities. The Quality Director builds and develops a high-performing quality team, leverages data-driven insights to enhance product and service quality, and partners closely with senior leadership and shop floor teams to embed a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a company-wide quality strategy that aligns with overall business objectives, working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and senior leaders.
- Translate the quality strategy into practical actions on the shop floor and across all supporting functions, ensuring consistent understanding and adoption throughout the organization.
- Oversee all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS), including planning and execution of audits, testing protocols, and adherence to regulatory requirements such as FAA regulations and Part 23 standards.
- Ensure the organization maintains compliance with all applicable quality and regulatory standards, and that certification requirements remain current and in good standing.
- Lead and oversee the FAA-approved Safety Management System (SMS), including maintaining the SMS manual and all supporting documents to ensure they remain accurate, current, and compliant.
- Continuously analyze manufacturing and operational processes to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, defect reduction, and improved reliability.
- Lead structured root cause problem-solving activities and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are effectively implemented and sustained.
- Recruit, build, and lead a high-performing quality team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and developing quality staff across multiple sites or regions as needed.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance evaluations, and clear career development paths for quality team members to support their growth and retention.
- Serve as the primary contact for regulatory bodies such as the FAA, managing communications, inspections, audits, and certification maintenance activities.
- Communicate quality standards, expectations, and initiatives clearly and effectively to both internal and external customers, ensuring alignment and understanding across stakeholders.
- Monitor key quality performance indicators (KPIs), analyze trends, and provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve product and service quality.
- Leverage data analysis to interpret complex data sets and process performance metrics, driving evidence-based decisions and prioritizing improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and leadership, to drive process improvements and implement corrective actions.
- Champion a culture of quality and safety throughout the organization, promoting proactive identification and resolution of quality issues.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in quality leadership roles, with at least 10 years of progressive responsibility in quality management within manufacturing or similarly complex environments.
- Demonstrated background in leading multi-site or global organizations, with the ability to standardize and harmonize quality practices across locations.
- Strong engineering background, with the ability to understand complex technical processes and products.
- Deep expertise in Quality Management Systems, including development, implementation, and oversight of audits, testing protocols, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working within heavily regulated environments, such as FAA-regulated operations, automotive, elevator, or similar industries.
- Strong grounding in Six Sigma methodologies, with a preference for candidates holding a Six Sigma Black Belt.
- Advanced data analysis skills, including the ability to interpret complex data and process metrics to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Proven root cause problem-solving capabilities, with clear examples of driving effective corrective and preventive actions that deliver measurable business impact.
- Ability to develop, implement, and sustain process improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce defects, and improve overall quality performance.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization, from shop floor teams to executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop quality teams, including performance management and career development.
- Experience managing or supporting FAA-approved Safety Management Systems or comparable safety programs in regulated industries.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in FAA-regulated environments, including familiarity with FAA regulations and Part 23 standards, is highly desirable.
- background in heavily regulated industries such as automotive or elevator is considered strong preparation for this role.
- Formal Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred.
- Experience serving as a primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, including managing inspections, audits, and certifications.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical and data-driven insights into clear, actionable communication for diverse audiences.
- Experience leading large-scale continuous improvement or operational excellence initiatives is an advantage.
Work Environment
This is an on-site role based in Olney, working within a manufacturing environment. The Quality Director operates closely with shop floor teams, engineering, and leadership, requiring regular presence in production areas to observe processes, engage with staff, and implement quality initiatives. The work environment emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and disciplined adherence to quality procedures, with a strong focus on collaboration, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita Falls, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $200000.00/yr.
benefits are attached, . If it is a VP level candidate, our long-term incentive (MIP) will come into play and that can range from 15 to 25% of total comp depending on overall strength
