Job Title: Quality Control Technician

Job Description

The Quality Control Technician will actively monitor the production process to ensure compliance with food safety, food quality, and food defense requirements during processing, packing, and packaging. This position reports to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular checks to ensure monitoring guidelines are followed during product processing.
• Inspect finished products against predetermined standards and determine acceptance or rejection.
• Perform biophysical testing on products, including viscosity, pH, water activity, moisture, and other quality measurements.
• Monitor temperatures of refrigerated rooms, freezers, and sensitive ingredients.
• Calibrate thermometers, scales, and other measuring equipment.
• Monitor and verify proper operation of metal detectors.
• Review production documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor compliance with pre-operational requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Collect and maintain retention samples during production runs.
• Participate in the frozen retention sample program.
• Compile and distribute daily quality control paperwork.
• Assist the QC Supervisor with GMP audits.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of QC work areas.
• Support evaluation of raw materials and sample preparation activities.
• Maintain effective communication with cross-functional plant teams.
• Provide backup support for the QA Analyst as needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the QA Supervisor.

Essential Skills

• Experience in food safety, quality control, and inspection.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data entry.
• Strong written and communication skills.
• Laboratory experience including pH and water testing, and viscosity testing.
• SQF and Quality Control knowledge.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in food manufacturing, baking experience preferred.
• At least 6 months of quality assurance experience preferred.
• ServSafe, HACCP, Baking Science, or similar certifications preferred.
• High school diploma required; Associate degree or higher preferred.
• Strong basic math and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Availability to work up to 7 days per week as needed.
• Flexibility to work various shifts.

Work Environment

The role is based in a food manufacturing plant that exudes a variety of aromas, resembling a delicious bakery.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Halethorpe, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
