Quality Control Technician
Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour based on experience
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM (Overtime as Needed)
Position Summary
As a Quality Control Technician for Ultimate Granite & Stone Surfaces, you will be responsible for ensuring every countertop and stone project meets our quality standards before it reaches the customer. You will inspect completed work, identify defects, document quality issues, and work alongside our fabrication and production teams to prevent problems from recurring.
This role requires a strong understanding of stone fabrication processes and a commitment to delivering a zero-defect customer experience. You will play a critical role in maintaining production flow by safely moving completed pieces, staging work for installation, and ensuring all finished products leave our facility ready to create a 5-star customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance and Zero Defect Delivery
Inspect all completed countertops, stone pieces, and custom projects prior to installation.
Verify that finished products meet company quality standards, fabrication drawings, and customer expectations.
Identify defects, workmanship concerns, dimensional issues, and cosmetic imperfections before products leave the facility.
Ensure only installation-ready products are released to customers.
Defect Documentation and Trend Reporting
Document quality issues and maintain accurate inspection records.
Track recurring defects and identify patterns affecting quality and efficiency.
Report quality trends and opportunities for improvement to leadership.
Assist in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
Production Flow and Physical Handling
Move completed stone pieces using suction lifters and material handling equipment.
Stage finished work on carts and prepare projects for installation.
Load containers and organize materials to support efficient production flow.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Cross-Functional Quality Coordination
Collaborate with Sales, Production, Engineering, and Project Management teams.
Communicate quality concerns quickly and effectively.
Help resolve quality issues before projects reach the customer.
Support continuous improvement efforts throughout the production process.
Quality Training and Process Improvement
Coach and train team members on quality standards and best practices in fabrication.
Use fabrication experience to explain how defects occur and how to prevent them.
Promote a culture of craftsmanship, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Assist in developing and refining quality control procedures.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of stone fabrication experience strongly preferred.
Previous quality control, manufacturing, or production experience preferred.
Ability to read fabrication drawings and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to identify root causes and solve problems effectively.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds independently.
Ability to assist with moving pieces weighing up to 300 pounds using team lifting techniques and suction lifting equipment.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
Ability to bend, twist, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
Ability to work safely around stone fabrication equipment and moving materials.
