Actively Screening for a Quality Control Specialist to join Medical Laboratory in Norcross, GA!

Job Description

The Quality Control Specialist reviews documentation and quality records to ensure that products and processes meet defined specifications and regulatory requirements. This role focuses on documentation review, quality systems compliance, and product assessments in an industrial or warehouse setting, as well as in a laboratory environment. The specialist supports quality management initiatives, participates in quality and compliance projects, and contributes to continuous improvement efforts across testing and quality assurance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Review documentation, including records, procedures, and forms, to ensure quality endpoints and compliance requirements are consistently achieved.
  • Actively lead and contribute data relevant to Quality Systems Compliance during periodic Management Review meetings.
  • Assist Quality Management in coordinating and actively participating in quality or compliance-related projects.
  • Conduct product tests and assessments in an industrial or warehouse setting to verify that specifications are met and that products, materials, or supplies function as intended.
  • Perform in-process and final product or result inspections and clearances on the production floor to ensure consistency and adherence to standards.
  • Identify product defects or potential issues and determine appropriate actions to resolve these issues.
  • Analyze the results of laboratory or usability tests to identify defects and ensure they do not persist in future production or testing cycles.
  • Maintain detailed records of product defects and manufacturing issues to help identify and eliminate recurring problems and to provide a clear paper trail for accountability and error reporting.
  • Notify supervisors or plant leadership of issues or defect reports to support informed decisions about manufacturing processes and practices.
  • Support process improvements throughout testing and quality assurance processes to enhance product quality and reliability.
  • Suggest improvements to address potential systemic problems discovered during quality control activities, ensuring products are produced consistently and defects or errors do not persist.
  • Participate in structured training by reviewing each testing bench in the laboratory environment to gain a general understanding of workflows.
  • Use a training booklet to document learnings, add notes, and capture key information communicated during training.
  • Shadow Technologists to understand the testing processes and context for the documentation being reviewed, ensuring accurate and informed quality control review.
  • Learn and use relevant computer applications to perform documentation review and quality control tasks effectively.
  • Complete competency assessments after the training period to demonstrate understanding of quality control review responsibilities.

Essential Skills

  • Experience reviewing documentation, including records, procedures, and forms, for quality and compliance.
  • Familiarity with laboratory environments and processes related to quality control and quality assurance.
  • At least 1 year of experience within quality control, quality assurance, laboratory operations, document control, chemistry, biology, or related fields.
  • Ability to conduct product tests and assessments in industrial or warehouse settings to verify specifications and functionality.
  • Strong skills in identifying product defects or potential issues and determining appropriate corrective actions.
  • Experience analyzing results from lab or usability tests to identify defects and prevent recurrence.
  • Proficiency in maintaining detailed records of product defects and manufacturing issues for traceability and accountability.
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Strong data entry skills and attention to detail in documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Ability to support and participate in Quality Systems Compliance activities and Management Review meetings.
  • Effective communication skills to report issues and collaborate with supervisors and cross-functional teams.
  • Associate"s degree in a scientific discipline or related field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree within a scientific discipline such as chemistry, biology, or a related field.
  • Preferred one or more years of Quality Assurance or Quality Control experience in a regulated environment.
  • Experience working in a clean and regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with quality or compliance-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Comfort working with multiple departments and areas within a large laboratory setting.
  • Ability to learn and use computer applications specific to quality control and documentation review.
  • Willingness to participate in structured training programs, including bench-by-bench exposure and competency assessments.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and documentation streams.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in a laboratory environment focused on quality control review, with no direct testing performed by the specialist. The position also supports product assessments in industrial or warehouse settings and on the production floor. The environment is clean, regulated, and technology-driven, with a large laboratory that includes many departments and opportunities for cross-functional exposure and growth. Training takes place Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and the regular work schedule runs Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. New employees receive structured training, including exposure to one testing bench at a time, use of a training booklet for notes and reference, shadowing of Technologists to understand testing workflows, and learning relevant computer applications. A competency assessment occurs after approximately three weeks. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
