Location: Houston, TX 77040
Type of Position:Temp-to-Hire
Hours: 1st Shift: M-F 7:00am-3:30pm / 3rd Shift: M-F 11:00pm-7:30am
Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough start-up, in-process, and final inspections in accordance with the companys Quality Management System (QMS), customer specifications, and approved procedures.
- Conduct precise dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM equipment to verify product conformance to drawings and tolerances.
- Perform inspection of first articles, sample runs, and process/tooling modifications, ensuring accurate documentation and timely feedback to production.
- Conduct capability studies and other analytical assessments to evaluate process stability; clearly communicate findings and improvement recommendations.
- Interpret part drawings, GD&T symbols, and customer requirements to ensure full understanding of product expectations and critical characteristics.
- Regularly review inspection instructions and control plans to ensure inspection accuracy and relevance.
- Verify that product labeling and packaging meet all quality and customer requirements before release.
- Accurately document inspection results, nonconformances (NCMRs, VRRs, RMAs), and ensure proper quarantine of nonconforming materials; promptly notifies the Production Supervisor and Quality Manager.
- Record inspection data and reports in WIN-CONTROL and other approved systems with accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) trends, identify out-of-control conditions, and initiate appropriate corrective or containment actions.
- Effectively communicate inspection results, quality issues, and relevant shift information to the oncoming inspector and production leadership.
- Maintain all inspection equipment in proper working condition, promptly reporting calibration needs, damage, or accuracy concerns.
- Assist in training new operators and inspectors to ensure consistent application of inspection standards and quality practices.
- Demonstrate leadership, self-motivation, and a high level of attention to detail while promoting a culture of quality and safety throughout the facility.
- Adhere to all company safety procedures, policies, and quality standards in every aspect of work.
- Provide proactive support to the Quality Manager through accurate reporting, effective communication, and collaboration on quality improvement initiatives.
- Actively support and enforce the companys Quality Policy, Objectives, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor or functional managers.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma. Experience can be substituted for education
- 3 to 5 years of working as a QC Inspector. Familiarity with AS9100 / ISO13485 standards is a plus
- Training Requirements: ISO Quality Procedures (ISO9001 / AS9100 / ISO13485)
- Basic computer and math skills to measure specifications
- Light Work Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and / or lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. If the use of arm and / or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than sedentary work and worker sits most of the time, the job is light work
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as; preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and or operation or machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distance close to the eye
- Subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change
- Subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause a worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level
- Subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
