Role Overview:

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that manufactured metal components meet all required quality standards and specifications. This role involves performing first-article, in-process, and final inspections, maintaining the calibration of measurement tools, and documenting inspection results.

The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret engineering drawings, and hands-on experience with metrology equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently while also collaborating with production teams to resolve quality issues and drive improvements.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Quality Control Inspector in a metal manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with metrology equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, depth micrometers, gauge pins, thread gauges, and optical comparators.
  • Strong knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods and tools.
  • Familiarity with quality standards and inspection procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written in English).
  • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Frequent lifting of materials up to 25 lbs, with occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Regular use of hands for handling tools, measuring equipment, and inspection tasks.
  • Frequent reaching, with occasional standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color recognition, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration within a manufacturing setting.
  • Work performed in a moderate noise level environment typical of a production facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Inspections: Conduct first article, in-process, final, and incoming inspections to ensure product quality and compliance.
  • Maintain Calibration: Verify and maintain calibration of measurement and metrology equipment.
  • Inspect Materials & Components: Perform inspections on raw materials, purchased parts, and external processes.
  • Document Quality Data: Enter inspection results into quality systems and databases to maintain accurate records.
  • Interpret Drawings: Review and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to validate product conformity.
  • Identify Nonconformances: Detect and report quality issues, defects, and deviations to management.
  • Support Corrective Actions: Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis: Investigate defects and support preventive measures to improve product quality.
  • Maintain Documentation: Ensure accurate tracking of inspection records, test results, and quality reports.
  • Improve Processes: Assist in developing and improving quality control procedures and systems.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
