QUALITY ASSURANCE SUPERVISOR COMMERCE

Job Description: The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily quality operations, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, customer requirements, and company policies. This role supervises QA personnel, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and ensures the integrity of the Quality Management System (QMS). The QA Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining high standards for product quality and safety throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise and support daily activities of the local team to ensure adherence to QA procedures and policies. Monitor compliance with food safety programs, including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, allergen control, and traceability. Oversee product inspections, quality checks, and documentation of in-process and finished goods. Conduct investigations for non-conformances, including customer complaints, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Review and maintain records related to quality checks, sanitation, production monitoring, and other QMS documentation. Collaborate with production and sanitation teams to address quality and food safety concerns in real time. Train production employees on quality standards, procedures, and regulatory updates. Assist with internal audits and prepare for third-party, regulatory, and customer audits in addition to facilitation of said audits. Ensure timely reporting of quality and food safety issues to facility managers, Corporate QA Manager and other stakeholders. Support implementation and maintenance of GFSI programs (SQF, BRC, etc.). Monitor and manage pest control and environmental monitoring programs and take appropriate actions when necessary. Participate in continuous improvement projects related to quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Maintain knowledge of industry regulations and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and innovation.

Education and Personal Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. 35 years of experience in Quality Assurance within the food manufacturing or processing industry. Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a QA role preferred. HACCP certification and PCQI certification required. Working knowledge of GFSI standards such as BRC or SQF. Solid understanding of regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, FSMA). Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with quality management software systems Ability to work in both office and production environments. Standing, walking, climbing, and working in cold or warm environments may be required. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
