Summary/Objective:
The Quality Assurance & Quality Control Specialist is accountable for performing the daily QA/QC responsibilities of specific commercial construction projects to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the established minimum standards. QC Specialist role includes direct oversight and review documentation and physical inspection phase of the work flow process and working with other in-house personnel (e.g.: Project Managers, Superintendents, etc.) and external personnel to produce and document a quality product.
Essential Functions:
Creates, execute, updates, and maintains corporate and project specific quality control (QC) procedures, documentation, and reports
Reviews shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary
Provides QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project's established standard and constructively confronts non-conformance to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner
Schedules, document results, and maintains a log of all codes and independent inspections that are required
Documents, corrects, and re-inspects all non-conformance
Verifies and documents that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately, and are acceptable for use in the project
Conducts preconstruction meetings with new and existing subcontractors and our project team to discuss issues that affect quality
Conducts periodic follow-up inspections to verify that work is proceeding in conformance to the contract documents
Coordinates and documents the testing, start-up, and commissioning of building mechanical systems
Provides QC verification of the project "as-built" drawings during the course of the project and prior to submission to customer
Provides QC verification of project closeout documents that include O&M manuals, as-built and warranties
Stops work if necessary to resolve matters that affect safety, quality and/or inhibit the logical progress of work
Performs other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Required:
3+ years of experience in the construction industry with a contractor engaged in mechanical and or industrial construction; or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferably in a construction environment)
Knowledge of a wide range of construction materials, methods, and techniques
Construction-document literate with knowledge of all phases of construction
Proficient with Microsoft office software
Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills
Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned and meet client-specific safety standards
Must be available to work assigned schedules
Preferred:
Prior military experience
HS diploma or GED equivalent
