Position Summary:
The NDT Supervisor is responsible for oversight, administration, technical direction, and execution of nondestructive testing activities in support of manufacturing and customer requirements. This position serves as the designated NAS410 Level III for Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) and Radiographic Testing (RT - hard copy film radiography), ensuring compliance with customer specifications, aerospace requirements, internal procedures, and applicable industry standards.
The NDT Supervisor will lead NDT personnel, maintain certification programs, approve techniques and procedures, support audits, and ensure timely inspection of castings and components while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve responsible NAS410 Level III for:
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Radiographic Testing (RT - hard copy film)
- Develop, review, approve, and maintain:
- NDT written practices
- Technique sheets
- Work instructions
- Inspection procedures
- Training and certification records
- Ensure compliance with:
- NAS410
- Customer specifications
- ASTM standards
- Aerospace and internal quality requirements
- Supervise and support Level I and Level II NDT personnel
- Administer qualification and certification examinations for NDT personnel
- Interpret radiographic film and penetrant indications to determine product acceptability
- Maintain NDT process controls including:
- Film processing
- Darkroom controls
- Penetrant system checks
- Equipment calibration
- Viewing conditions
- Audit readiness
- Coordinate daily inspection priorities with production and quality teams
- Participate in:
- Customer audits
- Nadcap audits
- Internal audits
- Corrective action investigations
- Review and disposition nonconforming material related to NDT findings
- Assist engineering and quality teams with defect analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety requirements and applicable regulations
- Maintain safe operation of radiographic equipment and NDT areas
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience, Physical Requirements):
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, or related technical field
- Nadcap audit experience
- Experience in aluminum casting or high pressure die casting
- Additional NDT certifications (UT, MT, DR, CT, etc.)
- Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) experience
