Position Overview:
The Quality Assurance [QA] Lead will report to the QA Supervisor daily and will be responsible for overseeing the activities of the QA Floor Technicians. This individual is expected to coordinate scheduling, provide training and track QA metrics. They are additionally responsible for continued oversight of QA team members' job knowledge and skill sets after they are qualified in their initial position.
The QA Lead will be proficient in the QA Floor Technician III role which incorporates limited QA Lab Technician responsibility.
The QA Lead collaborates with production, maintenance, sanitation, receiving, and shipping team members to identify and correct departmental non-conformances related to food safety and quality. The QA Lead will be informed and aware of their role in monitoring activities for meeting the regulatory requirements for food safety and are informed of their responsibility to report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
QA Team members are expected to be the primary example of appropriate behavior, attitude and respect for others while using a continuous improvement mentality and to perpetuate a food safety culture through attitude and actions.

Here's more of what you'll get to do:
- Interacts professionally with all other departments (production, receiving, shipping, sanitation, safety and maintenance)
- Supports the supervisor with monitoring performance and attendance of team members and escalates if disciplinary action is needed
- Reports on quality and food safety non-conformances to the respective Department Leadership in a timely manner; participates in root cause analysis
- Compiles and reviews required paperwork; inputs results/information in the respective database
- Ensures completion of on-shift product review evaluations
- Provides training for new employees in accordance with applicable training manuals and SOPs
- Schedules and administers the skills assessment and certification quizzes for new employees who have completed their training; provides follow-up assessments to ensure QA Floor Tech proficiency is maintained by all existing team members
- Completes all administrative duties as assigned by QA Leadership (e.g. EOS reports/record filing)
What we require:
- Attainment of QA Floor Technician III qualifications
- No disciplinary actions taken against the candidate by the company within 3 months of application
- Must be able to work overtime on weekdays and weekends
- Ability to make basic math calculations like averages
- General computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access)
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize assigned work
- Able to work independently with a proven record of follow-though, teamwork and accountability
- Ability to teach, coach and develop others to build job skill proficiency
- Clear communication skills - verbally and in written form
- Ability to present ideas, concepts, issues, concerns, and questions in a well thought out, positive and professional manner
- Leadership skills such as, but not limited to conflict resolution, employee engagement and inspiring good work
- A positive outlook and attitude in taking initiative and problem solving
What we prefer:
- Experience in QA in a food manufacturing environment
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
- Associate or bachelor's degree in biology, Microbiology, or related science
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- To include ability to lift up to 35 lbs
- Ability to push and pull, occasional use of pallet jack for Finished Goods library sample storage
- Ability to work in hot-cold environment (freezer -10'F cooler 40'F) and Oven room/area 99'F
- Ability to work in moderate high noise environment (PPE provided)
- Ability to work with chemicals (PPE provided)
