Quality Assurance Supervisor

A leading food manufacturing company is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor for a high-volume vegetable processing facility in Montgomery, MN. This role supports quality, food safety, sanitation, documentation, regulatory compliance, and plant-floor execution across canning and freezing operations.
The right candidate will be comfortable leading employees on the floor, auditing GMP and food safety practices, reviewing processing records, training plant teams, and helping the facility stay ready for internal, customer, and regulatory audits. This is a hands-on quality role in a seasonal food manufacturing environment, not a lab-only or desk-only QA position.
Schedule: This is a day-shift role. From mid-October through mid-June, the schedule is Monday through Friday at approximately 40 hours per week. From mid-June through mid-October, peak production season includes some weekend work and approximately 50 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform audits to monitor compliance with GMP standards, food safety standards, case and label procedures, sanitation procedures, and safety programs.
- Supervise employees on the assigned shift and reinforce clear expectations for quality checks, records, sanitation, and food safety follow-through.
- Review and organize plant processing records for conformance with regulations and company policy before Quality Assurance Manager review.
- Train employees on fill control, sanitation, can seams, grading, statistical process control, and related quality procedures.
- Audit sanitary conditions within the manufacturing facility and support corrective action where gaps are found.
- Investigate spoilage concerns, quality issues, process deviations, and documentation gaps to support root cause and corrective action.
- Participate in food safety audits and support audit readiness across production, sanitation, documentation, and quality systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related field preferred.
- One to two years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Food manufacturing, beverage manufacturing, agricultural processing, canned/frozen food, or other regulated manufacturing quality experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of GMPs, sanitation, food safety documentation, processing records, audits, and corrective actions.
- Certified or able to become certified in Better Process Control School, Thermal Processing, and Container Closure.
- Comfortable working in an onsite, seasonal plant environment where production pace and schedule demands increase during peak season.
Compensation
- Salary range: $65,000 to $75,000 per year, based on skills, abilities, and experience.
- Bonus opportunity: up to 5% MBO.
