Copper State Bolt & Nut Company, is seeking a QA Lab Technician. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our manufacturing processes and products. Working within the Quality Assurance department, you will be responsible for conducting various tests, inspections, and analyses to uphold our standards of excellence. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, methodical, and committed to maintaining the highest levels of quality and safety.

Copper State Bolt & Nut Co. is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Lab Testing Technician / QA Inspector to support both laboratory testing and manufacturing quality assurance activities. This position is responsible for performing mechanical testing, in-process inspections, final inspections, and quality documentation activities to ensure products meet customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, comfortable working in both a laboratory and manufacturing environment, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of product quality, safety, and integrity.

Responsibiliities:

Mechanical Testing Laboratory:

  • Perform tensile testing, proof load testing, hardness testing, and specimen preparation activities.
  • Follow ASTM, SAE, ISO, and customer specifications.
  • Select, identify, and maintain traceability of test samples.
  • Record test data accurately and maintain laboratory records.
  • Generate and maintain test reports and certification records.
  • Verify calibration status of laboratory equipment and report concerns.
  • Follow ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory procedures and work instructions
  • Assist with laboratory audits, accreditation activities, and continuous improvement efforts.

Quality Assurance Inspection:

  • Perform in-process and final inspections of manufactured fasteners and related products.
  • Verify compliance to drawings, specifications, routing instructions, and customer requirements.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, ring gages, thread inspection equipment, optical comparators, and GO/NO-GO gages.
  • Document inspection results and maintain quality records.
  • Maintain lot integrity and product traceability.
  • Identify, quarantine, and report nonconforming material.
  • Communicate quality concerns to supervisors and production personnel.
  • Support root cause investigations, corrective actions, and audits.

General Duties:

  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Follow all company safety policies and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain clean and organized laboratory and inspection areas.
  • Assist with training and mentoring new employees when qualified
  • Support special projects as assigned by Quality Management.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Previous manufacturing, laboratory, or quality inspection experience preferred.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASTM, SAE, ISO 9001, or ISO/IEC 17025 requirements preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to perform repetitive measuring and testing activities.
  • Ability to work in both manufacturing and laboratory environments.
  • Ability to wear required PPE.
