Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Purchasing Manager is responsible for all aspects of procurement within the organization. The ideal candidate will be motivated, decisive individual with the ability to search continually innovative solutions in order to improve business unit’s competitiveness, with minimal supervision. The Purchasing Manager can work well in project teams to accomplish company-wide goals and ensure quality and customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions
- Manage purchasing staff to ensure high quality and performance.
- Establish new supplier relationship as well as maintain excellent relationships with current suppliers.
- Negotiate improvements in pricing, terms and delivery.
- Conduct supplier evaluations and process audits.
- Keeps proper documentation to ensure conformance with industry, customer and certification standards.
- Support research and development activities on new and ongoing projects.
- Procure items in a strict-budget atmosphere and maintain knowledge of all aspects of inventory cost.
- Actively participates in continuous improvement activities to assist team in meeting goals related to quality, cost, delivery, safety and morale.
- Ensure procured items are accounted for properly and reconcile invoicing when necessary.
- Perform random analysis on procured parts to help ensure company profitability.
- Participates in quality process, including identifying non-conformances and following procedures if a defective condition is found.
- Develop and train all purchasing associates.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Business or operational / supply chain management, engineering or related discipline required.
- Minimum of 7 years purchasing experience in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Aerospace or metal fabrication experience is a plus.
- Compensation is commensurate with experience.
- Requires ability to create and manipulate reports in Microsoft Office based applications.
- Able to multi-task and shift focus as needed in a high paced atmosphere.
- JDE experience is a plus
