Summary of Job Description

The Purchasing Manager at the Sheraton San Diego Resort oversees the procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution of all resort goods. This role balances rigorous operational controls, inventory management, and vendor relations with a guest-first, service-oriented mindset to support all resort departments.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $85,000 annually

Work Hours:

  •  

    Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business demands.

  • Scheduling includes holidays, nights, and weekends.

     

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years of Purchasing Leadership experience in hotels, resorts or high-volume operations.
  • Understand the mission, vision, and goals of the hotel.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to apply them in a dynamic environment.
  • Well organized, focused and completed all work assigned.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write instructions, correspondence, reports, and memos.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and electronically with guests, management, co-workers, members and marina tenants.
  • Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to push, pull, bend, squat and lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Procurement & Financial Control
    • Secure competitive bids for resort goods and maintain detailed supporting documentation.
    • Track all price changes and update inventory pricing systems to reflect current market costs.
    • Verify proper approvals for all purchases and requisitions before orders are placed.
    • Review banquet event orders (BEOs) and collaborate with management to secure special event requirements.
  • Inventory & Warehouse Management
    • Maintain appropriate par stocks for all inventoried items and report variances to the Director.
    • Oversee and assist with unloading, receiving, sorting, stocking, and distributing goods.
    • Lead inventory audits by participating in monthly, quarterly, and annual physical counts.
    • Enforce compliance with federal, state, and local food and beverage storage laws and codes.
  • Leadership & Communication
    • Supervise the team by interviewing, hiring, training, developing, coaching, and counseling purchasing and receiving associates.
    • Evaluate complex data from multiple sources to make informed purchasing decisions.
    • Establish goals and objectives for department.
    • Build morale and promote positive employee engagement.
    • Follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve standards of operations.
    • Ability to effectively present information to associates, management, guests, members, marina tenants and the public in one-on-one and group situations.
    • Resolve complex challenges by anticipating, identifying, preventing, and solving departmental issues.
