Purchasing Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This individual will oversee purchasing strategy, supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and material procurement to ensure production schedules are met while driving cost savings and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a proactive supply chain professional who thrives on building strong vendor partnerships, improving processes, and supporting manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with production and business objectives.
- Source, evaluate, qualify, and manage supplier relationships.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and supplier agreements.
- Monitor supplier performance, conduct supplier reviews, and resolve quality or delivery issues.
- Manage purchasing activities to ensure timely availability of raw materials, fabricated components, tooling, equipment, and services.
- Review purchase requisitions, issue purchase orders, and monitor open orders to prevent production delays.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records within ERP/MRP systems.
- Analyze purchasing trends, supplier performance, and procurement costs to identify savings opportunities.
- Lead cost reduction and value engineering initiatives with suppliers and internal teams.
- Develop purchasing KPIs, reporting metrics, and standardized procurement procedures.
- Collaborate with Planning, Production, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Operations to support production schedules and new product launches.
- Identify supply chain risks and implement proactive sourcing strategies.
Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives throughout the organization.



Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material planning.
- Experience negotiating supplier contracts, pricing agreements, and commercial terms.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail and accountability.

Schedule
Monday - Friday | Full-Time | 8:30 am - 5 p

Work Environment
- This position is based in a manufacturing facility and combines office responsibilities with regular interaction on the production floor. Candidates should be comfortable working in an industrial environment and wearing appropriate PPE when required.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout office and production areas.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to review technical documentation, contracts, reports, and purchasing records.
- Comfortable working around industrial equipment, varying temperatures, and manufacturing noise while following all safety requirements.
