Position Overview
A Purchasing Agent II is needed for a temporary assignment focused on supporting procurement and supply chain operations. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services to ensure operational continuity while meeting cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, detail-oriented professional with strong negotiation skills and experience in procurement systems and supplier management. This role plays a key part in optimizing supply chain performance, supporting cross-functional teams, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the procurement of goods, materials, and services in alignment with company policies, budgets, and operational needs.
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery performance, and reliability.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and vendor terms to maximize value and efficiency.
- Review purchase requisitions to ensure compliance with technical specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier data, and purchasing documentation.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering, and finance teams to support business objectives and material availability.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvement opportunities.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply chain issues in a timely manner.
- Track industry trends and market conditions to support informed purchasing decisions.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, ethical standards, and procurement procedures.
Required Qualifications- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

- Minimum 5 years of procurement or supply chain experience (7+ preferred).
- Proficiency in Oracle ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
- Experience in oil and gas or industrial procurement strongly preferred.
Preferred Skills & Competencies- Experience with Lean Sourcing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Strong negotiation and contract management experience.
- Familiarity with technical specifications, industrial equipment, and materials.
- Ability to interpret procurement documentation and ensure compliance with standards.
- Experience working within ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or similar).
- High attention to detail with a proactive and results-driven mindset.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements- Office-based role with occasional off-site work as required.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods and occasionally stand or walk.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds when necessary.
