Job Description
A Pulmonary Function Technician (PFT) performs specialized tests on patients to measure lung function and capacity, helping physicians diagnose and treat lung diseases by conducting procedures like spirometry, lung volume measurements, and gas diffusion tests, while ensuring patient comfort and accurately recording results; they also calibrate and maintain testing equipment and collaborate with healthcare providers to interpret findings.
Pulmonary Function Tech I
Performs a variety of diagnostic pulmonary function procedures ordered by physicians with emphasis on obtaining high quality test data to aid in the screening, diagnosis and treatment of various pulmonary disorders.
Qualifications
Education: Associate degree and/or certification required from a CoARC (Committee on Accreditation of Respiratory Care Education) approved school of respiratory therapy.
Experience: No experience required. One to three years of experience in clinical respiratory care including diagnostic pulmonary function testing preferred.
Licensure/Certifications/Registration: CPFT required within first year of employment. AHA BLS-HCP required. May be required to obtain/maintain AHA ACLS based on specific work unit.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Good interpersonal and communication skills.
