Diploma Or GED equivalent1.5 years of experience as a Utility Maintenance Worker or comparable experience in basic water utility safety, basic water or wastewater practices, and awareness of chemicals used in performing the job.Texas Class A Commercial Drivers License with Tanker EndorsementClass D Basic Water Operations or Collection Class I license from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) or equivalent or higher Treatment LicensePosition OverviewUnder general supervision, performs semi-skilled and skilled labor tasks in support of the repair and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection (W/WW) facilities, equipment, and infrastructure for the Public Works department.Essential FunctionsPerforms semi-skilled and skilled work and uses tools to assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of W/WW systems.Drives vehicles to transport equipment to and from job sites which requires a commercial driver's license.Follows safety precautions in all work performed; reports problems and emergency situations; performs duties within the scope of authority and training; duties may vary depending on job assignment and individual skills.Performs operation, inspection, and maintenance of a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment.Performs setup, operation, and maintenance of a variety of safety-related equipment according to utility safety procedures and standard operating procedures.Communicates with customers to advise them of utility work planned or in process.Required to respond after-hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.Required to work in trenches or in a confined space to perform maintenance tasks.
