The Position
The City of Portland has evaluated how to reimagine, realign, and strengthen seven core citywide services to better support Portland's new form of government. These services include communications, engagement, equity, human resources, procurement, technology services, and budget & finance.
Through this effort, the City is identifying opportunities to improve coordination, clarify roles and responsibilities, and standardize tools, technologies, and processes where appropriate. A key priority is maintaining high-quality service delivery while exploring ways to optimize resources, reduce duplication, and ensure these core services effectively support the organization.
This position is part of the City's realignment initiative within the Bureau of Technology Services and will play an important role in helping shape how these services operate moving forward. We encourage you to apply and be part of this transformative effort.
Job Appointment: Full Time. Regular.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Alternate schedules may be available.
Work Location: The current schedule for this position is remote. Occasional on-site time may be expected for management meetings or summits. The City is reevaluating a return-to-office (RTO) policy, which could change in-person requirements with notice. The hiring manager for this position will have more up-to-date information at the time of all verbal/contingent offers. In-person work will be conducted at 1120 SW 5th Ave, Portland, OR 97204. Starting Pay: The City of Portland follows the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Your salary is determined based on the experience listed in your resume that is directly related and equivalent to the position for which you are applying.
Position Summary:
The City of Portland seeks a leader who champions learning, seamless operations, and innovative technology solutions to propel good government forward. The Bureau of Technology Services is integral in improving how the City provides services and benefits to the people of Portland daily, and we are looking for innovative, collaborative leaders to drive these changes.
This recruitment is to hire one (1) Information Systems Supervisor to lead the Public Works Service Area (PWSA) Data Services team. This supervisor will report to the Public Works Service Area Technology Manager in BTS and will supervise a data services team with 10 team members. The PWSA Data Services team provides data infrastructure, governance, integration, engineering, and analytics, and product support to leadership and staff throughout the Public Works Service Area and is a key partner within the City-wide geospatial and data services apparatus. The supervisor will work with peers in other service areas as well as the Enterprise GIS and Data Services team to tackle City-wide data challenges to inform policy and improve city services.

Applicants must demonstrate how their education, training, and experience meet each of the minimum qualifications listed below:
A common way to obtain the required qualifications listed above would include a minimum of five (5) years of experience managing data or information systems, and with at least one (1) year in a supervisory, team lead role, demonstrating an ability to grow, adapt, and lead in evolving scenarios.
