12:00 AM to 8:00 AM, Mondays and Tuesdays. Subject to Change. Must be willing to work flexible schedule that may include working day, evening and overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays. Will also include extra assignments on short or no notice. Total hours per week is 16 hours.

Position Overview
Rider University invites applications for a part-time Public Safety Officer within the Office of Public Safety. The Public Safety Officer provides the university with excellent customer & community service assistance, protects life, and safeguards property through the maintenance of law and order by enforcing all rules and regulations governing Rider University.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct systematic patrols of buildings and the grounds to protect persons and property;
- Conduct traffic control functions, regulate parking in designated lots, issue parking permits, issue violation summonses and warnings, and perform vehicle registration look ups;
- Promptly respond to alarms, determine the cause, advise the supervisor, and document the incident;
- Respond to emergency situations, evaluate and request assistance if needed, provide immediate care, advise the supervisor, and document with a report;
- Provide security services for various University and student social events;
- Alert Facilities Management of systems failures and all malfunctions through computer-generated work orders; and
- Document and secure all lost and found items.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one-year law enforcement, security, military, or firefighting experience or a Bachelors degree in a related field.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have, or be willing to obtain within one year, CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must possess the following: demonstrated ability to work well with others and under both direct and indirect supervision; excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to be professional and calm under pressure; a high degree of dedication, honesty, and integrity; computer literacy; ability to perform physical aspects of the job; and willingness and ability to work flexible hours.
- The completion of a satisfactory background check is required. Individuals must possess a valid and satisfactory drivers license.
- This position has been deemed essential by the University to ensure the continuation of critical University operations, attend to the needs of students and others, and protect the Universitys assets during an emergency or when the University has closed or suspended operations. University employees designated as essential personnel must remain on duty or report to work as regularly scheduled to avoid interruption of essential services unless directed or permitted to do otherwise, as indicated by their department supervisor.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- College degree and a minimum of two years security training with law enforcement training preferred.
- First responder or EMT certification
