Investigates inquiries concerning contract interpretations and technical problems for any unusual field conditions and potential construction issues related to work, delays, disputes and change of scope. Reviews and approves daily reports to ensure the required project documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.Investigates inquiries from the general public, civic groups, contractors, technical professionals and businesses and provides resolutions to project complaints and general inquires to ensure prompt resolution.WORKING CONDITIONSThe position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness, and unpleasant air conditions. This position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.This is a Department of Houston Public Works Position at the Tier 1 level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSRequires an Associates degree in a field closely related to the area of inspection to be performed; or a high school diploma/GED and certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months in the area of inspection.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSFive (5) years of skilled experience related to construction are required.Substitution: A Bachelors degree in Construction Management or a related field may substitute for up to four years of the experience requirement.
