There's never been a more exciting time to join us at North Yorkshire Council. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Level 6 Public Health Practitioner Apprentice to work in our Public Health team. A career in public health can be very rewarding and provides opportunities to help improve people's health and wellbeing, while also helping to tackle the root causes of ill-health.
We welcome applications from individuals interested in promoting, improving, and protecting health. The apprenticeship provides the opportunity to earn while you learn and to gain valuable real work experience alongside gaining a professional qualification. The post will provide opportunities for career progression in this field.
We are keen receive applications from enthusiastic individuals who are ready to expand their knowledge and skills in a dynamic, creative, and nurturing environment while truly making a difference to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities in the communities we serve.
The successful candidate will work 30 hours per week as a dedicated member of the Public Health team and study 7 hours per week online with the University of West England to gain a 3-year BSc (Hons) Public Health/Public Health Practitioner Degree. The university programme of learning will be delivered exclusively online, starting with a two-week induction week commencing 7th September 2026 (tbc). Attendance at the induction is compulsory.
Support, supervision, and mentorship will be provided through the apprenticeship, and the successful applicant will connect with many public health portfolio areas. The post holder will develop and promote public health strategies, projects, and programmes. You will be provided with the necessary IT equipment to undertake your role and study e.g., a laptop.
