Public Health Nurse
Starting Hourly Rate: $28.9663 - $31.8035 per hour
Position Status: Full-time, Part-time, or PRN
Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm; occasional evening hours
Total Incentive bonus payment will be paid to eligible employees in the following amounts:
Half of total to be paid upon successful completion of new hire evaluation period, second half paid upon completion of one year of employment. The bonus is a non-recurring and non-accumulating lump sum payment subject to state and federal taxes, social security, and IMRF. Please contact countyadminhr@mcleancountyil.gov for more information.
Position Summary
The Public Health Nurse provides professional nursing services to patients in their homes or in a clinic setting. Work involves performing public duties such as assessing the physical and mental health of patients, providing nursing services according to physicians'' orders, locating the appropriate community resource, and referring the patient. Work is performed according to public health nurse training, OSHA standards, public health, state requirements, and county policies and procedures. *Occasional work outside of normal business hours may be required for emergency response, vaccine clinics, or outbreak management.

Physical Attributes/Demands
The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Requires the ability to balance, climb, crouch, kneel, lift, and push/pull various objects, stand, stoop, and walk. Requires mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word and possess close visual acuity.

Work Environment
Work is performed in a clinic and involves frequent exposure to body fluids, airborne diseases, and anxious, angry, and/or combative patients. Requires the use of latex gloves, gowns, and facial masks. Work also involves operating an automobile in a variety of weather conditions.
