Summary:Plans,directs,and coordinatescommunication activities of projects to ensurethat goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribedtimeframe and funding parametersbyperforming thefollowingduties. EssentialDutiesand Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate marketing and outreach forprogrammingacross all Divisions
  • Maintain positive relationships with media and local marketing companies
  • Manage TCHD printing needs both internal and external
  • Serve as PublicInformation Officer(PIO) during emergency and crisis situations
  • Plan and directdevelopment of communicationsdesigned to keep thepublicinformed of

TCHD program'sactivities,and accomplishments

  • Assist in planning, promoting, and implementation of specialeventsand programs
  • Represent the organization at community, social, and business events
  • Mange TCHD's website and social media platforms
  • Create promotional flyers, informational social media posts, Facebook lives, and videos (including writing scripts and providing voiceovers) to promote programs and initiatives of TCHD
  • AnswerTCHDinformationrequests from media and community partners; reviewcorrespondencepreparedby others
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate health education programs as assigned
  • Use best practices and evidence-based programs to target and impact the health of the community
  • Conduct community surveys and collaborate with other health specialists and civic groups to ascertain health needs, develop desirable health goals, and determine availability of professional health services
  • Prepare and present educational programs to target audiences; research current health issues to enhance programs and educational materials such as brochures, newsletters, social media graphics, press releases, and distribute as appropriate
  • Workwithcommunity-basedcoalitionsandorganizations to ensure the public's health and well-being
  • Participate in ongoing efforts to maintain agency accreditation status
  • Monitorand track ICS trainingcertificatesfor all staff
  • Perform all otherduties asassigned

Special Requirements

  • MustabidebyallDepartmentalpoliciesaspresentedinthePersonnelPolicy Handbook, and by all agency and Division procedures
  • Must maintain required agency, grant, and programmatic training courses outlined in the New Employee Orientation and Onboarding Handbook and the Workforce Development Plan, including but not limited to HIPPA, ICS, and CPR
  • All Tazewell County Health Department employees have an emergency response role and may be expected to respond to threats to the public's health which may include longer shifts, nights, weekends and to perform the duties associated with the roll assigned.
  • Must maintain confidential or privileged information, adhere to client privacy laws, and utilize sound judgment and caution in communications with individuals inside and outside the Department
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be available for occasional evening and weekend events

 

Education and/orExperience:

Bachelor's degree in communication, health education or related field required

1 year relatedexperience in media,communications, or related areas required, 2 years preferred

1 year health education experience or educational background required, 2 years preferred

MathematicalSkills:

The employee must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

 

ReasoningAbility:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Apply principles of good ethical/legal practice as they relate to study design and data collection.

 

 

Computer Skills:

Ability to utilize basic PC hardware and software, Windows OS, email systems and operations. Ability to utilize cybersecurity skills to identify and mitigate cyber threats and recognize potential attacks like phishing. Understand security protocols and know how to respond appropriately to security incidents.
