Position Description

DEFINITION:To provide in-person classroom instruction to students using multiple teaching strategies and perform accurate assessment of student learning.Candidates must be willing to teach at all campuses, Downtown, North Campus, Burgaw Campus and Surf City Campus.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:Receives general supervision from Department Chair, ScienceExercises no supervision

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Essential Functions:Prepare and execute lessons, lectures, activities, and exercises for seated and/or online settings.Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance. Grade and record individual scores.Grade and return assignments and post grades in a prompt manner.Provide prompt and appropriate professional correspondence to students and colleagues.Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance. Maintain other records as required.

Other Important Functions:Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of:Teaching techniques and procedures, including techniques using the internet and technology.Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.Principles of test development and administration.

Ability To:Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of workCommunicate concisely and respectfully, both orally and in writingInterpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulationsMaintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:Making observationsReading and writingCommunicating with othersOperating assigned equipmentHandling varied tasks simultaneouslyMaintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:Standing or sitting for extended periods of timeOperating assigned equipmentHandling varied tasks simultaneously Bending, stooping, climbing or lifting up to 50 poundsMaintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of:Making sound decisionsResponding to questionsDemonstrating intellectual capabilities

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:Minimum Education/Training:A Master's degree in biology or 18 graduate hours in biology
