JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a dependable, long-term part-time nanny to provide consistent after-school care for a 5-year-old in a calm, structured home environment in Macungie, PA. This position offers 15–20 guaranteed hours per week across select weekday afternoons, with occasional flexibility for later evenings with advance notice.
Schedule: Every Tuesday plus any 3 other weekdays, approximately 3:00–7:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 20 hours per week (use-it-or-lose-it)
Weekend Coverage: Very limited and optional — not guaranteed
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Pick up the child from school and provide attentive, nurturing after-school care
- Prepare healthy meals and snacks and maintain a clean, organized environment
- Engage the child in age-appropriate activities such as reading, arts and crafts, and outdoor play
- Assist with homework and support a consistent daily routine
- Perform light housekeeping related to the child's care, such as tidying up after meals and laundry
- Transport the child safely to school, activities, and age-appropriate outings (family vehicle with car seats provided)
- Maintain open, ongoing communication with parents about daily activities, meals, and any concerns
- Be comfortable around family pets
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 21 years old
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Minimum 3 years of childcare experience, including infant care
- Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification required
- Current Mandated Reporter Training required
- Current Car Seat Safety Training required
- Must pass a comprehensive background check
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and current auto insurance
- Reliable personal transportation required
- Physically able to actively care for a school-age child, including lifting up to 25 lbs, engaging in floor-level play, and moving quickly to ensure child safety
- Knowledge of child safety, safe sleep practices, and child development
- Physical examination completed within the last 12 months required
- Must provide proof of current required vaccinations (including but not limited to Td/Tdap, MMR, HepA, HepB, PCV, and influenza)
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Affinity for pets
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
