Duties Description New York City Children's Center (NYCCC) an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting a Board-Certified Children & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join NYCCC's Bronx campus.
Psychiatrists are essential to providing mental health services to the people OMH serves. They provide comprehensive and recovery oriented psychiatric treatment services built on principles of effective, measurable, and accountable care. As medical doctors, psychiatrists are responsible for ensuring that all services are integrated to promote mental and physical health and recovery. Additionally, since psychopharmacology has become an integral component of modern mental health treatment, psychiatrists serve as primary prescribers.
Psychiatrists at OMH: • Provide primary psychiatric care to patients • Respond to urgent or emergency clinical issues • Collaborate with other health care professionals to achieve treatment goals and ensure continuity and quality of care • Assess and refer individuals for admission, transfer, discharge, and further treatment • Review and maintain medical records and documentation consistent with facility, agency, State, and federal guidelines • Serve as members of a multidisciplinary treatment team
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program if they have: Psychiatrist 1 Children & youth: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and certification in child and adolescent psychiatry approved by the ABPN. Psychiatrist 2 Children & Youth: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN, and certification in child and adolescent psychiatry approved by the ABPN. OR Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Additional Comments Psychiatrists at OMH facilities are eligible for: • Psychiatrist Loan Repayment Program offering up to $120,000 • Supplemental income of up to 50% of salary by volunteering to provide evening, night, and weekend coverage • Defense and Indemnification Protection - broader in scope than typical medical malpractice coverage • OMH sponsored Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program All OMH employees receive a generous benefits package including: • Excellent opportunities for advancement & professional growth • Generous paid time off • NYS medical, dental, & vision insurance • NYS Retirement programs - NYS Pension and Deferred Compensation Background checks will be required. This position is eligible for a downstate adjustment of $4,000. There are two positions available.
